Applied for network development engineer role & received an email from an Amazon recruiter saying he would like to discuss my background and interests more. The email also said that this is not an interview. What can I expect from this call later this week? Besides reviewing the amazon leadership principles, what else should I be doing to prepare?
They will probably just talk to you about the process and gauge your interest. Ask some questions and see if it’s for you. If so, the recruiter can schedule an actual interview.
Recruiter calls are low stress. They are to understand whether your background is relevant and what your expectations are. They may point you to different openings if there are some with better fit. LPs are not really needed at this point. In fact, they will tell you about LPs. Just be ready to talk about your resume.
Nothing to stress - it will just be informal talk. Adding to the information above, one thing the recruiter will be very curious to know is your expectation for salary. Once you reveal a figure, you are done! Politely say "I haven't done that part of my homework yet, can I get back to you later on this?"
Read the job description closely and think about how your experience and skills will be beneficial in that role. This will be an informational call for both of you. Don’t stress too much about it!
