Salary range info online for SDET’s is inconclusive and all over the place. Figured id ask here... My info: - Job Title: Software QA Engineer (but i act as more of a Senior SDET) - Salary: $85,000/yr with full benefits - Location: Nebraska - Years: 5.5 - Company: 40-person engineering team. technically a “startup”. Over $500mm in fundraising. - Job duties: I’m the sole QA engineer across four 10-person squads. I act as a scrum master in addition to doing all the manual testing and built our API, integration, web, and mobile automation frameworks. I’m leading the efforts of reshaping our entire feature development lifecycle and implementing agile processes while also writing frontend code and monitoring/managing our dev ops infra. Database management. AWS. docker.
Looks like a lot of work being handled by you. That TC looks quite low to me for the exp and work that you do
I was kinda realizing that after writing out that list. And that’s not all of it haha. I’m actually not sure how I manage to do any of it well all at the same time. But I do!
Why don't you speak to your manager about the same and ask for competitive comp? Or switch jobs maybe
Sounds like you’re underpaid. There should be at least 6 people doing your job.
Fortunately I really enjoy the work. Hoping that a promotion is in the cards soon. Just wanting to know a little more about the market salaries so I can make an educated ask for a raise.
So do they develop and just toss the testing over to you?
Yes, for the most part but I’m also handling writing automation for any new code. I also write both backend and frontend code for patching or fixing bugs.
