Is the chance still high that Google Hiring Committee overturns the interview panel's decisions? The recruiter called me right after the on-site and said 'great job! It's rare to see all interviewers have reached a consensus. You got 5 strong hire'. And started discussing the comp over the call. I know he wasn't supposed to share this information, but for some reason he just did. Also, he mentioned that nothing can be guaranteed at this stage. The tricky thing is that I have an offer due on the coming Monday and unfortunately they aren't willing to extend. The offer is not bad, but Google is still my top choice. Do you guys think it's worth waiting for Google and turning down the offer? Or does anyone know how Google HC works? (More details than articles on Quora) Will they just ignore interviewers' recommendation and make decisions at their own discretion? Thank you guys! No trolling please
Congrats! Not being willing to extend the offer is a bad sign. You have three options: 1. Sign the offer and plan to reneg if google makes an offer. 2. Decline and wait for google. 3. Turn down the offer and cross your fingers for goog.
Seems positive enough, but you don’t have an actual offer in hand so I would remain dubious. I would see if you can call your google recruiter and explain the situation Monday morning. Likely though, if you can get 5 strong hires at Google you are probably not going to have trouble finding another offer if for whatever reason they turn you down. Up to you to decide if this offer due on Monday is worth more than an offer from a company that’s not google (if you have to go that route)
Thank you! The recruiter knew my situation. That's why he collected interviwers' feedback right after the on-site. He said HC will have a meeting on next Tuesday.
A friend of mine went past loop, hc, and was told vp rejected, which is super rare but happens. I'd go with #1 what eggplant++ mentioned
Accept it for now and reject it after. The worst case the first company can blacklist you, but working for google will open so many other opportunities. What was your preparation like for google?
Unless you’ve already done this multiple times, I would tell the exploders you need more time because you are waiting on this. Recruiters have an interest in closing and will likely accommodate. If they refuse to extend, you don’t want to work there, and if you performed this strongly, I agree you can get an offer at some place that respects you more than exploding offer company even if Google doesn’t work out.
Almost sure to pass HC, but as mentioned above, you can still fail VP approval.
Share your prep, lol
And tc
5 stronghire is like 99% passing HC. Its no brainer. But you dont have an offer yet
Talk to recruiter. Wait on Google. Don't take the other. They will wait if you're worth it. With 5 strong Google interviews, you SHOULD have no problem lining up something else if Google doesn't come through, no?
What did you do to study? What level?
