Just want to get a thought from the community as to can Google Cloud actually challenge AWS? I know Google started later than AWS in their cloud business but keeping thay aside, I feel even the cloud products at Google are mediocre at best or complicated except Big data product suite. Also, the training, documentation, uses cases are mediocre. With the pace at which AWS is growing and innovating, can Google Cloud ever challenge AWS?
If anything, competition will come from Azure
Yes
Better sales and support, Azure is doomed to be taken over. Google is pretty aggressive going after AWS customers, which is definitely there. Before they challenge AWS, however, they need to subvert Azure first. LoL
Azure lol, you are in the picture only because if the windows ecosystem you have created. Nothing more
Don’t they have a larger market share than GCP? Wouldn’t that be the reason they’re in the picture?
Yes they do. Why? All the big enterprises have MS tools like outlook, AD & stuff. Azure says when you already have a support contract with us, then why don’t you make a move to the cloud. Traditional enterprises don’t want to think about any other alternatives & IT has their own shit to deal with. So they end up giving the contract to MS not knowing they are getting into a bigger shit.
My question is not about Azure overtaking AWS or GCP overtaking Azure. My question is can GCP challenge and threaten AWS.
It will maybe happen, maybe not. Its all about how fast they can innovate. - AWS: Market leader, got in early, unbeatable ecosystem, easy to use - Azure: Shittiest of the 3, if I had no MS presence in my org I wouldn’t even touch this crap, a nightmare using it - GCP: Dev friendly ecosystem, rapidly growing since Diane Greene took over, Google engg, Still a long way to catch up with AWS
@Lollol sorry dude that u got rejected from MS phone screen. Better try next time. Good luck.
Why people keep saying AWS started earlier than google? Wasn’t Google App Engine released only 2 years later than AWS?(AWS in 2006 and Google App Engine in 2008) I think google has been competing with AWS for the last 10 years and still falls behind Azure
Google App Engine wasn’t IaaS it’s PaaS similar to what Azure did prior as well. AWS picked the items people needed without having rearchitect every app, just lift and shift projects.
Well given how strong engineers at google are compared to engineers at amazon, they should have caught up with AWS anyway
Spanner, bigquery, gg
Heard Airbnb is a big user of AWS, is that true?
It's all a lock-in game since you can't realistically change cloud providers on a whim. Newer companies will go with whatever is cheapest or cheapest to hire devs for. This wave of companies already locked in to AWS. It's a price game now to get customers in 5 to 10 yrs
I heard Snap, GCP’s biggest client had a bad experience communicating with GCP’s oncalls during an HSE caused by GCP and Snap is deciding to move more towards AWS (they have been using both). Not sure if the source is legit or not.
Are you forgetting about Azure...?
Azure is okay to forget about. Not relevant.
Umm, isn’t Bloomberg a financial news company? I would expect better from you.
