Been in the US 8 months now and haven't gotten around getting my license yet. Can I still drive using my valid indian license?
DMV website says that I can drive if I am a visitor but need to get a license if I am a resident - not sure how "resident" is defined. I am currently on L1A visa.

So many foreigners (and citizens as well) I know donât know basic stuff, such as not cruising in the left lane or knowing when to yield.
And if that's what u want. Don't say it like "left is for passing" is a rule. Say it like "left lane is for passing" is something most people like.
I dunno what u r lacking. Grasp of English. Or grasp of simple logic.
Either ways. Good luck.
I think u can upto a year. But why not get a DL?
Some states don't allow this, for example Ohio.
So it's state specific
âUnder California law, a person who stays in the state for other than a temporary or transitory purpose is a legal resident, subject to California taxation. ... Vacations or brief transactions, such as signing a contract or giving a speech, constitute temporary or transitory purposes that do not confer residencyâ
(A) Address where registered to vote.
(B) Payment of resident tuition at a public institution of higher education. (C) Filing a homeownerâs property tax exemption.
(D) Other acts, occurrences, or events that indicate presence in the state is more than temporary or transient.
That said, from financial perspective you would want to get your CA DL ASAP as your insurance rates will be much lower.
Assuming you're in CA, You can't drive anymore, you can use an out of state license to drive only for a fixed time (something like 3 or 6 months). You need to get a CA license now.
