Bachelor's in data analysis. Tried both analyst and PM now and don't like either, enjoys coding a lot more. Is it possible to get eng job with leetcode alone or should I go back to school for masters? .58 yoe 75k tc
Can you please share why didn’t you like a Product Management role?
Dealing with people with conflicting interest is a lot harder than just coding
Being a SWE is surprising amount of people work as well.
I agree, try for PM. Normally I say MS in CS is a waste. You may be one of those few people who can benefit.
Why is it a waste? It builds credibility if not anything else
If a candidate interviews with me and they have a BS in CS and a MS in CS: They are an idiot and a waste of my time. Get 2 degrees in related disciplines. Not 2 degrees in the same thing. Why do I say that? If they're that bad where they need 2 degrees in the same thing to prove their skill & couldn't cut it with a BS... lol, yeah gtfo.
Absolutely possible. I have two colleagues who studied completely different area, and they are doing quite well :)
So they just leeted?
One guy did work for another company as SDE before joining Amazon. Other guy just started coding for fun, built multiple apps and web sites. Then got hired by Amazon.
CTCI (maybe 3 months if no prior knowledge) -> Leetcode + Grokking (a month to start shoring things up) -> Keep Leetcoding / Practice + Doing mocks 1/2 times a week (a month) -> assess your progress if you’re ready to start interviewing -> Start doing interviews with lower priority companies -> Schedule interviews with FAANG Plus, hope this can help: https://www.rooftopslushie.com/request/Advice-needed---Non-CS-background-162
I'm just worried that I wouldn't make it pass the initial resume hr phase even if I lc 500 problems. But thank you for the resources. It's very informational
Did you pursue this path? Just wondering if it's really achievable
