Uber announces it is shutting down self driving operations in Arizona completely but working to resume in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh mayor then chimes in on twitter and says ‘no’ in a pretty nasty way. I’m starting to really feel bad for them at this point. So much hate.
The publicly available data suggests that Uber’s autonomous driving program is weak, but the company is smart and ambitious enough to figure out a way forward. They’ll be fine.
Here’s a great recent example of bias against Uber: https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/23/17384600/uber-lyft-wheelchair-accessible-fail-nyc-report Compare the headline to the details buried in the story.
Nothing to do with hate. Their self driving platform sucks big time. Needs light years of improvements. The miles driven without driver intervention is super low (not even 50) compared to something over 700(or maybe it is was a higher number) for Waymo/Google.
Yeah, and you know everything
It’s not my opinion. The numbers are out there. Why don’t you dig up a little. AZ did a shitty/hasty job in approval process. CA and other states require the companies to share logs from the car for trial runs as part of the approval process. That’s where those numbers come from. Don’t shoot the messenger.
