I'm average intelligence and couldn't get into a prestigious company. I tried getting into Google twice but failed on the first round of interviews despite studying. It's my dream to work at google or at a prestigious company. Is it worth trying to study again or is just impossible for stupid people like me to get in?
Definitely yes. IQ is a factor but not a huge one. Maybe luck is a much greater factor (who is interviewing you, types of questions and whether you have seen similar problems before, etc)
Man boob?
You either need to have a big IQ either have strong dedication and hard work, or both. I had an offer from Google despite having limited intelligence but I worked really hard. And I had to try three times. I didn't take it because it was down leveling me with a significant paycut.
You’re already at Amazon, that’s fairly prestigious.
Yes! High Intelligence while being a good estimator for success, is by far overrated. I suggest you read the book "outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. It will shed light on this exact question you have and much more. This is one of the best books i've read. After you complete it you will understand that hard work is much much more important.
Wasn't that book debunked?
Not that Im aware of.
Not at all. Most people at Google aren't very 'smart'; they're simply good in their vertical. These people can talk sorting algorithms but fail at the most basic human things. If you have a decent understanding of your field, a month or two of leetcode is all it takes.
Work on being excellent at non traditional skills while being good at the traditional stuff. If you are better at product thinking, design thinking there’s a place for you. if you can schedule things better, or have great people skills. As long as your good at the normal job stuff, you’ll get an offer.
Also, how do you define intelligence? That might be hurting your interviewing skills.
It’s a lower probability but non-zero.

Try to think critically and figure out what skills and ability you were lacking when you interviewed. There are tons of these interview questions online (Cracking the Coding Interview, LeetCode, HackerRank, etc.) so do some of these and use them to figure out what you don't know, and learn it.
