I'm a senior software engineer at a low tier company. 145K TC. It would be hard for me to pass senior level interview. Plus even if I got in i'm afraid I'll have trouble meeting expectations. I'd like to apply for junior role, as a fresh grad. It will still increase my TC and give me room for growth. Can I do it?
Wow my moms legit thinking about the same thing so I kinda wanna know lol (not sure how serious she is...)
Have confidence buddy!! Start with interviews will all sort of companies and that will boost your confidence/preparation day by day.. and ofcourse, start leetcoding and understand various system design
No, definitely not fresh grad. Consider applying to roles that are technical, maybe even partially engineering, but with a lower coding bar, then internal transfer. Testing, QA, sales engineering, project management, ops, etc.
I second this. I have been on hiring loops where the committee blindly concludes that anyone with long experiences cannot join as sde-1 (amazon). I have argued and the response i get is that the candidate did not take his careee seriously and grow and we dont want ppl like that. Unfair but reality. Strongly recommend getting your foot in the door and then try to change roles internally.
You do the interviewing, let them do the downleveling.
Try Amazon first
You can go for L4-equivalent level, it’s no senior so interviews and expectations are not that hard and still offers good TC and prospects. And FAANG will surely try to downlevel you to L4 anyway.
Why not L5? L4 is a new grad stepping stone. Lots of mistakes and amateur coding expected. Someone with 13 YOE should be totally fine at L5.
I'm afraid I won't be able to clear the bar since expectations are higher.
I’ll get flamed for this but L4 expectations are soooooo low. You can’t stay in an L4. It’s basically fast tracked to L5. If you’re worried why don’t you leetcode a bit and find out? I suspect you can pass the L5 bar just fine.
Unsure if Troll.
Not trolling
