can I pay alimony for my kid from pretax money if my ex do not live in US(do not have SSN). divorced around 5 years ago. California
You can do it but the IRS will still collect taxes on it.
Thanks for your response. Will it be the same tax rate as I pay from my base? I’m moving to US next year and not familiar with taxes yet.
Why alimony to ex? Alimony is for kids in most countries not to wives
Right, I mean I pay it to my kid.
At least in California child support is not tax deductible. It is not considered income to recipient. (Alimony is tax deductible to you, taxable to the recipient, but the recipient needs SSN. Uncle Sam wants money from at least one of you)
Thanks!
