Can someone tell me how much is the compensation for Software Engineer II at Uber?
I got an offer a couple of months ago. 155k and 500k in stock. Was able to negotiate RSUs higher, but only with competing offers and I was willing to walk away
Why did you reject it
i got an offer for sde 2 at uber. was 140k ~500k stock plus 20% annual bonus mixed between cash and stock. base was way too low for me so turned it down
this was in SF office btw
So how does stock work? Can you sell it and cash it in or you have to wait till unknown time the IPO happens?
can only be sold through acquisition or ipo
There's also a buyback program after 4 yrs. But I'm pretty sure Uber will IPO (or have other liquidity event) before that happens for you.
So I took a job that had stock in my offer letter, but haven't received anything formal beyond that. HR says it will take a while. This is my first stock experience so what should I expect? They're supposed to IPO soon so am I to wait for that or what?
It varies so much that I can't answer than question. Depends when you joined, where did you join from, how well you negotiated etc etc etc Base salary is around 150k, everything else is up in the air.
