Can you negotiate a promotion at Microsoft with external offer?
I recently interviewed outside and received an offer for 180k base + 4500 stock options at TradeDesk. Currently an sde 2 at Microsoft and the outside offer is for senior role. Is the outside offer good? If so should I take it or negotiate a promotion at Microsoft? I like my current team and work, but the work at trade desk also sounds interesting. Does anyone have any opinion on TradeDesk as a company?
If the new TC is substantially higher then take the offer and come back within one year as senior. Microsoft interview is laughably easy.

Their stock is now at $210, was at $50 back in Feb 2018. Those options would be worth a lot

Just curious how much are you making at msft? Your current base. Also how much would you make as senior at msft?
Currently I'm getting around 140k base at Microsoft, I dunno how much I'll get as senior..
Think about it if you spend couple years outside at a higher base (40k delta) and work on interesting things, you can always come back to Microsoft at Senior level and not only get a great base, but awesome stock package and signing bonus. Make the move of the work at other company is interesting (not for the money only). Hope that helps and best of luck!!
