Can you tell me if this offer is good /ok/terrible?

Have been offered to work as a w-2 contractor allocated at Microsoft in Redmond. Pay would be 60/h and offered help with relocation, contract is for 18 months. PTO 10 days + 5 sick. Team says is slow paced usually no extra hours. Worth it? If it is bad could it be seen at least as an investment to eventually apply and get in easier as a FTE later on?
Thanks

Depends on your opportunity cost: current position, company and pay.
if you already have a FTE, I personally wouldn’t. If you’re a new grad and that’s one of the most interesting offer you got, why not. It could open up to a full time later on. I would ask the recruiter whether there is a possibility of conversion or not

Financially speaking is in line with what I make today but opens the opportunity for me to relocate to Seattle and get closer to the tech industry. I'm not a new grad.

What is your YOE? Your base seems to be ~125k per year. How much will the contract company take out of that? I know they take around 20% cut. Will you get any health insurance benefit?

60/h is already after whatever they get on top of me. That's my pay. I bet they're getting another 20-30 on top. Health benefit is united ppo and cost would be U$570/mo. I'd join my wife's company plan so I don't care. So answering your question, YOE at 60/h is 125k which is basically in line with what I make today but in another state (CA)

125k seems good. Which team will you work at? Year of experience?

Seems like a good deal to get closer to an FTE role. $10K+/mo, Plus lower taxes compared to CA. What do you have to lose?

Yeah, no more state income tax. It's already a raise right there.

Why not then! Ask the recruiter if there is the possibility to convert into FTE in future. Some companies know from the beginning whether it’s possible or not. I know Google for instance makes it very difficult to convert contractors

No conversion but I've been told chances increase during the FTE recruitment process for being a contractor there before. Don't know if it's true.
