Which one would you prefer to live in long term. Specifically, I'm thinking either Toronto or San Francisco. Considering that the salaries are higher in sanfransico but the housing is more expensive too. Let us know why.
Neither.
What city would you choose?
NYC is slightly better city in terms of todos. But I will move back to my country once I have enough money. I am not Indian fwiw.
Seattle son
Why?
Seattle is cleaner, slightly less expensive and better quality of living than SF
US. More opportunities, higher pay, lower taxes, better weather. But not SF though. SF is a terrible place and I will never go back
Please let me know why. I'm about to take the same decision, it'd really help
San Francisco is extremely expensive. It is crowded. It has very high crime rates. It has a poor general quality of life and no political will to fix it. It is full of crazy people, and angry people, and people who are 40 but act like they're 20. It has activist groups that will hate you and openly call for violence against you just because you work for a tech company. Dating is impossible in SF. There's way more single guys than single girls, so it's impossible to impress anyone. They have five other dates this week, and two of them are startup millionaires, so what hope does a normal guy have? Tech companies in the US have presence in most major cities now, and just about any other place will be an improvement on SF. Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, Austin, NYC, Boston, are just a few of your better options
I moved from Canada to the US. You'll make and keep way more money in the US.
Fron which city did you move to us?
Vancouver
If you're considering outside US, why limit yourself to Canada? There are many other countries outside paying just as much and providing similar benefits (e.g. healthcare)
Can you list those countries? Thanks
Singapore- low taxes, low COL, software engineers are relatively well paid, booming tech scene, good food, cheap weekend travel destinations. Weather can be a plus or a minus based on what you like.
I decided to choose US on the pole. I just don’t see how I would be able to live the life I want to live when I eventually have a family. The opportunities for growth are just not as high as the ones in the states. It’s kinda a shame because I do love Canada, but the cons outweigh the positives imo
