I purchased 6 stocks of a company 2 years back and 4 stocks of the same company 3 months back. If I now sell 4 stocks, would they be from the first purchase thereby resulting in a lower capital gains tax? On Robinhood, when you try to sell, all stocks, irrespective of when you bought them, look alike. So does the system always consider older stocks to be sold first?
I think Robinhood is fifo https://www.fool.com/amp/investing/2018/05/20/robinhood-the-high-price-of-free-stock-trades.aspx
Thank you. The article sheds light on some other aspects of capital gains that I didn't know!
