Hi, I am interviewing with Capital One for a Lead Software Engineer role. The role is based in McLean VA. What would be a good compensation to ask for during negotiations?
I went by what was in glassdoor. I wish I knew this site before
I just said base 160
Well, I guess that means you were expecting a lot of equity, right? lol If you get an offer, just ask for more. Even if you said "80k", you can just say "80k's no good anymore. Now I want 160k"
Ya. I will wait for the offer. Do they offer bonuses?
What’s the lead software engineer? I only saw master software engineer in levels.fyi. Are they same? If so, seems 200k for in CA and might be 180k at most in VA.
It's above master software engineer from what I see in levels
Thank you all for your input. This is definitely an eye opener for me
Got a written offer yet?
Nope

Check levels.fyi if you haven't already. It's basically Manager/Sr. Manager. I'd say 200k-250k. How many YOE do you have?
Is that base salary or total comp? I have over 9 yrs exp
I think they don't offer stock until you get to director/distinguished engineer, so all cash
