Career Change

4 YOE as vehicle controls software (embedded controllers) and calibration engineer, 3 classes left to go in my computer science masters through Georgia Tech, bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan, developed 3 full stack single page web applications on my own. Looking to transition to full time software development in Seattle. Dream job would be working for any of the bigger names out there doing something web related (google, Microsoft, etc.). What are my chances of getting into one of those companies given my experience? Are there any of the bigger companies that would also value my background in vehicle dynamics and embedded software?

Autonomous Mobility companies may be interested in your background, but Seattle does not have much of the AM companies

If you're willing to compensate on the level, you should be given a chance? Showcase projects done during Masters. Make it clear why you're wanting to move to SDE. And, how good is the MS in CS at GeorgiaTech? This is the online course right?

Amazon does not consider domain specific skills to be a major obstacle to hiring the right technical brains. Apply to interesting roles, be good with leetcode, and be transparent that you’re capable of picking up new languages/scripts

The top companies might be a big jump why not try some easier companies

Bullshit. Op should LC like crazy and shoot for the moon because they stand a good chance If fresh bootcamp grads with only a non CS STEM bachelor's can get onsite interviews in SF and NYC with Bloomberg, Twitter, Salesforce, Uber and others, then OP stands a very good chance with sufficient prep (I.e. System design coaching and 100+ easy - hard LC problems) I say this because I landed onsite interviews at Twitter and Salesforce as a fresh bootcamp grad, and set my career back by a year or two by not preparing better and settling for mediocre startups

OP: see my comment above and consider also applying to Cruise Automation, Lyft and Uber. Ideally be referred to these companies and in any case, add and message as many internal recruiters on LinkedIn as you can find with a message about your interest and your most relevant side project, immediately after applying
