Career at Facebook

Facebook employees - how would you rate your job? Do you love working at FB? Do you think your company promotes growth?

I'm very happy. IC5. Pay and benefits are good. There are some annoying issues that occur with any large company, and I would like to be a bit more valued (through career growth) for my contributions, but overall I am extremely happy I started work at FB 3 years ago.

Same here. Came from G. Love the freedom (less red tape, no freaking readability BS, etc), better pay & perks, faster promo. Hate PHP (which is almost everywhere) and half-year review optimizations (when code/design quality is sacrificed for short term goals).

Did you start 3 years ago as a new grad?

Facebook pxtq27 Jan 26, 2019

Ex goog here. I love it due to the faster promos and benefits. No waiting 3 years to go from L4 to L5. The option to choose your team and manager makes a huge difference too

That’s the exact reason why I’m asking! Thanks - any other tips?

Facebook pxtq27 Jan 26, 2019

Yes, find your interests and join the internal groups at fb. You will find friends and colleagues to connect with and find out more about teams that fit best with you quickly that way.

I love my job, the promo opportunities I’ve been afforded , and the compensation is great.

Facebook Teddybear1 Jan 26, 2019

It's a job. After explosive growth, its not the same company it was 3-5 years ago. Not as great, IMO. Comparing to google, it has it pros and cons, which I am sure you will hear about.

Can you think of any places like Fb was 5+ years ago?

Facebook bahhumbug Jan 26, 2019

Maybe Quora

I love my current job best, and I worked with msft and aws in the past. Here engineers play bigger role if you ask me. More responsibility and less bullshit. The only thing is everyone works hard so it’s more difficult to be outstanding

Good, yes, yes

Love it! Went from E3 to E5 in two years. Outside of promos, I sincerely feel like I've grown in confidence, technical ability, and product sense. Way more then I was expecting to as a new grad.

Facebook xvftr Jan 27, 2019

There is no way someone gets promoted to E5 in 2 years unless they were severely under leveled

Facebook UWBE87 Jan 27, 2019

New grad, came in as a meets all return intern so had a chip on my shoulder
