Cashless exit

I am an early c level employee at a startup and am fighting for cashless exit for my stock options. I would never be able to afford to buy them. Curious which other companies do and don’t offer cashless exit?

Which worthless startup were you a C-Level exec of?

It was on acquired by Salesforce, but I really don't want to say more. While the options were worthless, my package was worth low 7 figures, so it wasn't all bad.

I think this question was asked of me (op). I still am a c level employee. It’s new but not worthless

  • There are companies loan you money to buy shares and if liquidity event happens later, they get a piece.

See if they are willing to buy your shares. If not, it means your startup is worthless so nothing to lose here.

That's really going to depend on the exit. I was in a similar situation, but when we were acquired, the options ended up being worthless and I got cash and stock from the acquiring company.

Others I've known in similar situations have been loaned money by the company to exercise options.
