There goes all those good nights of sleep... I bet Ben doesn’t last longer then 12 months.
What does a mattress company need with an architect ?
Good thing I don’t have any Casper mattresses to feel guilty about or have my sleep ruined over.
You gotta admire his timing, Casper is another high growth company which could IPO soon. He'll probably make another huge pay packet despite being really bad at his job / not even understanding what his job is. While most techies spend their time worrying about not knowing enough and trying to upskill he bullshits his way up the corporate ladder completely oblivious to his ineptitude
Uh oh, do you guys have some other examples/experiences with him?
I haven't really interacted with him personally so perhaps I'm being unfair. What I can say is he has resided over the worst technical architecture I've ever seen, he has to take a significant portion of the blame for the total dysfunction that is Wayfair engineering. Having said that I doubt he'll change much there so I wouldn't worry too much
Got it, unfortunate that our former CTO / co-founder Gabe left for a new venture. I can't say much on how tech and engineering teams will specifically change but doesnt look like he will bring the same culture value Gabe and many of the early employees had before they left.
What does this mean for Wayfair? Maybe a changing of the guard?
Ben stepped down a month or two ago and his influence has been waning for a while
Has that improved things?
This is really helpful, thanks for the insight. I'm not under the tech/engineering umbrella so my part of the business wont be impacted that much if at all. But I'll look out for any of the behaviours you mentioned and note it to my coworkers that may work with him.
This guy looks like an insecure leprechaun
Ben treated people so badly, that in Berlin, there will probably be a package waiting for him at the Casper offices from a former wayfair teams lawyers. Ben goes above and beyond, and is one of the most inept, dishonest, arrogant, pieces of crap I’ve worked with in my whole career. He colored my time at wayfair from the beginning, creating a hostile and harassing environment for me and my team, which resulted in situations so intense that some team members had to seek medical attention.
Jesus...I wonder if anyone from Casper is looking at this and freaking out
Any updates on how he’s doing? Casper is one of the HOTTEST technology companies of 2020. Not surprised at all they are gobbling up the top tech talent out there. Everyone I know is talking about Casper.
What’s the story on him?
Banned microservices for years at Wayfair
