I have 4 UX and product design internships under my belt and I’ve been doing freelance off and on for a good while now. I was curious if you think it’s possible to come into the Goog as a fresh graduate? It seems like most job listing specify 3+ years of experience. Which I don’t technically qualify for.
Better chances than not coming in as a new grad. Don’t wait too long—the period between 0.5-3 yrs experience is the hardest time to find a new job.
Makes sense. 👀 And that’s the plan at least. I graduate in May
What do u mean by don’t wait too long ?
Never tell me the odds.
Okay Han, but can you tell me the odds?
Bunch of new grads sit around me in the office
In Ux research and design roles !
Sweet! Good to hear. Now here’s to hoping I don’t suck
I’m interviewing new grads all the time (generally for L3 roles). They’re great minds :)
Good to hear! What sort of job listings should I keep my eye on? Any key words that say “we’ll hire newbies”? Haha
As a new grad if you fuckup an interview but show potential they'll refer you to the engineering residency program, and have you interview for that. I'd argue is actually better. It's lower comp but it's a lot of fun.
I'm a new grad hired at Google. Most people on my team were the same.
Any tips? I know you’re an engineer and I’m design. But are the job postings specific to new grads?
There's new grad specific postings. Taken a gander at them at all?
I haven’t actually seen any new grad ones from Google. I’ve looked through a fair amount. What would they be titled as?
I'm seeing mostly intern roles... wonder if they're getting enough through intern conversion. I have a recruiter contact but for Seattle area and dev roles.
