What are the chances of jobs getting moved to other locations like Austin, Seattle and Portland or even the mid west now that many companies are opening new locations elsewhere!. Why would companies invest more on location when other options offer cheaper operational costs!? Can this bring the demand on real estate to go down drastically??? Thoughts...
I don’t think the values would go down drastically unless there is a major recession. Even then, probably not. On the other hand, insane values are a major factor making me _not_ want to live in these places.
What's ur alternative!?
Living elsewhere.
The other areas are an overflow of Bay Area. Bay Area will be affected last.
Lol what? You think if people start getting laid off they're going to stay in BE? 😂
Might happen with following macro trends: retiring baby boomer generation, declining tech giants' revenues, us/global recession, legal immigration reforms, etc.
Not much of a chance . Just buy.
Tech companies go where it’s easy to hire top talent. If a ton of talent relocates elsewhere (like Seattle or Austin) in droves then maybe possible?
It's a chicken egg problem!!! I don't think bay area was formed that way!. Most talents here were pulled in after companies coming up here. Not sure if climate was the biggest factor... Cause there were equivalent colleges elsewhere too
Not a paradox. Silicon Valley was established as a computing manufacturing hub. It was cheaper logistically to build products if the chip plants and engineers were physically close to one another. They all happened fairly together.
There’s always a chance. 30 years is a long time.
Yes it will crash right after u buy and only you will lose your job. And all jobs will go away... Btw this is a common feeling when you are about to buy a house. There's been 4 "crashes" since 1990 and each time people say job will go Japan, China, India, Austin, {your fav city}... Yet the home prices are at least 7-8 times the prices in 1990. Is it possible there may be dips or 30% (like in 2009) drops, sure... But unless the other places start creating companies like Google, FB, etc., You should be fine.
