Change departments in Deloitte
How easy is to change departments after joining Deloitte? I have an offer for one of the delivery centers in QA but really interested into project management consulting or into Dev tracks.
Generally not easy unless you have partner-level support and a waiting project. Transitioning from Federal to commercial consulting, for example, is very difficult. But not impossible, if your network is strong enough. That network will take a good amount of time (at least a year, best case) to build, so if you were planning to switch quick, you’re better off declining an offer and applying for the practice you actually want to work for.

Its depend which group you are belong to. Deloitte is huge and i have seen some differences. As per my experience, change to completely different group team is challenging. But QA person is belong to project management team. And if you do good job and have good relationship with your manager, then your manager can help to move you in Project management. I have seen one of my friend was in QA and today he is TDM as a Sr. Mgr. level 6. So it is possible and easy if you want to move in same group or team. But if you want to move to completely different member firms, or group or team which is not part of your group. Then the process is same like new person applying for job from Deloitte career portal. You need to follow all process and also interviews, and only paper work will be easy to transfer for HR. I recently tried to change my team in different member firm and i went through all this process. The only good thing i like is your interview get schedule quickly if you are already working with Deloitte.
