Changing industries. Entering Tech
I've been working as a operations engineer in manufacturing for multiple years. Short description, I create concepts to improve the product (jet) and drive the development of the concept to a tangible process or product.
Most of my actions involve scoping, systematic design, planning, obtaining leadership buy-in, managing leadership expectations, and coordination with IC's who don't report to me to complete task on time.
I'm a star in my mfg. realm and speaking to individuals in the field, I'm told that I'd be a great PM, but I can't seem to get an initial call when applying. Is there a skill gap that I'm missing? What do I need to make the jump?
