Checklist of things to do before leaving Microsoft

I know there was a thread for this before somewhere but I can't find it. I might leave Microsoft in the next month or so and want to get all the documents etc. just in case. So far I have this: 1. Save all w2s 2. Save all immigration documents 3. Save all connects (who knows might come in handy?) 4. Save paystubs (thanks vuby38) 5. Xbox game pass (thanks vuby38) 6. Discounted MS software keys for Windows/office (thanks yfc) 7. Use dental/vision insurance (thanks kavalan) 8. Use up stayfit credit (thanks vuby38) 9. Delete personal stuff from work computer, reimage if necessary (thanks oh snap) 10. Max 401k to get full match (thanks zerokooll) 11. Use FSA money or it is forfeited (flexible spending account, thanks oh snap) 12. Donate to your charity so that MS matches (thanks oh snap) What else am I missing? Thanks for the help. Yoe: 4.5, tc: 170k

Good idea, thanks

Microsoft hotsteppa Jul 16, 2019

How do you get them? You can PM me if you don't want to publicly disclose

Amazon kavalan Jul 16, 2019

Max 401k

Microsoft grollb OP Jul 16, 2019

Wait really? So just contribute the max myself for the year and I get 9k from Microsoft for free?

Tableau ZeroKooll Jul 16, 2019

Mmm I don't understand the question. Msft will match 50% of whatever you put in your 401k that year. It doesn't matter if you leave in January

Spend all your FSA. Will be forfeited after your last day of employment. You can use the full year’s worth even if you contributed only partially. Microsoft will cover the rest. Back up any personal stuff from work machine and laptop. Delete all personal stuff and format HDDs/reimagine machines. Prepare your goodbye email and save it in drafts folder if you expect to be escorted. Also take all personal belongings home if that’s the case.

Microsoft grollb OP Jul 16, 2019

Good point on deleting personal stuff. I'm not sure what fsa is, but let me read up on it (did you mean hsa?)

Microsoft oh snap! Jul 16, 2019

No, HSA is yours to keep. FSA is a another special pre-tax funded account but it’s basically use it or lose it.

Microsoft oh snap! Jul 16, 2019

Don’t forget to make any charitable donations you were planning on making and requesting the match from Microsoft. Turns out not many companies have such an amazing match program.

Thanks, good idea

Add your msft email address to linkedin so you are verified as actually working there.

If working on H1b visa, do we need to inform immigration team as well while leaving Microsoft ?

Say you quit in January - what's the StayFit benefit like? Is it prorated?
