Among other details, the new data shows how camp officials are to "increase discipline and punishment" and how prisoners must be confined for at least a year and exhibit a change in behavior, language, and beliefs before they can be released. The new documents contradict the party's claim that the camps were to counteract terrorism and extremism and for Uighurs to voluntarily "re-educate" themselves. In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party has overseen the mass imprisonment and suppression of an estimated 3 million Uighur Muslims, an ethnic group native to western China whose population the Communist Party views as terrorists. Nearly 500 prisons and camps have been established in the western China region known as Xinjiang, or East Turkestan as many Uighurs call it. Former detainees have described experiencing torture, medical experiments, rape, forced abortions, and other horrors in the Xinjiang concentration camps. ...
>> He warned them against watching porn or swearing, badgered them not to eat food cooked by non-Muslims, smokers or people who drink alcohol, and made offensive slurs against the country’s majority Han ethnic group. By American standard, that’s definitely a hate speech. Sounds right to put him into jai
No it's not
The NY Times published 403 pages of internal documents of the Chinese government days ago... More leaked cables came out today. and what you post here is just a business insider link??
Yeah, I first saw the NYT article but looked for ones that aren't paywalled to post here
You're right, that absolutely justifies mass detention and torture of millions of innocent people in concentration camps
Yeah, we US as the beacon of democracy should totally fly to the other globe and bring justice and freedom to every human beings. Wait, we can’t do that, otherwise we won’t be able to get all our electronics and shit and our people’s living standards gonna be lowered! Ok now instead let’s write some ny times articles to try to shut down China and please our citizens
The two countries I hope get involved in this issue (and make a difference) are the US and the EU. The US and EU will only act if their populations speak up and push for action or advocacy. What action? It's up to you, the people, everything from diplomatic overtures to sanctions or military intervention. Everyone else is cowed by China and will not speak up. So if you care, and you pay taxes (even if you are not a citizen), email your representative and/or senator and ask them to take action. This is not a partisan issue, it's a human rights issue. It takes 10 mins, go to democracy.io to find your representatives
Why does the world always turn to the US when in need? 🤔
Because we like it. With great power, comes great responsibility.
If you think this is brutal, you know nothing about the history of colonization.
The SJWs think Trump is the epitome of evil. They have no clue.
Lol, wtf does Trump have to do with this? Or SJWs? I'm talking about the other, actually brutal cases of colonization where it resulted in slavery, rape and mutilation, not like this case where they're in propaganda school for half a day for months and then get out with a skills trade job.
This is exactly why we need second ammendment also let ship some of the guns to Uighur
Because that worked great when we did that for the Taliban in the 50s right?
Right...you get my point !! This is the kind of situation, where we don't get involved.
Where’s the call to action in this post? What are we supposed to do with this information? I have sympathy for those people but seriously what the heck do we do about it?
Are these the same Xinjiang people who periodically descend upon major cities in China cutting people up with knives? Which came first oppression or aggression?
Don't believe the communist propaganda, the violence is MUCH worse in the other direction. Every time any single Uigher commits a crime (usually in response to something like his family being killed) the Communists plaster the media with it. Meanwhile MILLIONS of Uighers are beaten and tortured every day by the communists.
Yeah, these are terrorists in the making. Sounds like all they really have to do is renounce Islam and eat a couple of pork wontons. Yet somehow this is being turned into such a big deal by the pro Muslim media. 🤦♂️

I spotted one too, and it's the Amazon kid who's unwilling to hear opposing views.
