Hi Guys, I am planning to join CISCO, waiting for the final offer. During the interview i have requested to start my GC/PERM processing immediately once i join. They said they will do it. Could anyone have any experience like this. Just wanted to know whether they will postpone my PERM filing once i join. Also can we request for a confirmation regarding the same with the offer letter. Please suggest. Also please let me know the PERM filing process in CISCO.
Cisco is one of the last places to go if you require PERM.
I was lucky to have PERM done within a year in Cisco. It all depends
I'll explain. For example you join in July, they start preparing your application, then layoffs hit in August, they stop the process and restart it in april/may, then the story repeats.
What you meant by that ? I am hearing so many comments in this post itself regarding the filing and when they will file. Could you please elaborate on it
It depends on 1) layoffs. If Cisco has a lay-off that year then *most* likely they won't file a PERM. 2) urgency of your case - it becomes most urgent on 6th year extension. Given Cisco is always having layoffs and there is backlog of exiting urgent perms - your case will most likely not get any attention till the first 5 years. Good to think about in terms of "where is your perm prioritized in the queue of pending perms at Cisco"
Thanks for the update. In my case i have only 2 more years on H1B and during the initial discussion i informed them regarding the urgency and they agreed. After hearing all these comment , is it good to demand for a confirmation with the offer letter regarding the PERM filing date.?
Absolutely that goes without saying - everything on a written medium. Don't trust any verbal commitment, even from your parents (think about it)
OP, Am in the same boat, joining in a month. Did you join Cisco already and did they file for your PERM?
Not joined . Still visa processing going on
Did you get an RFE?
@ FlashX. Did you get some sort of written confirmation about when or how soon your PERM will be filed by cisco.
No confirmation
Hi, got an offer from Thousand Eyes (Cisco) recently. With the recent layoffs (or with Cisco's annual tradition of layoffs), do you think PERM process would not be filed starting on day 90? My post: https://www.teamblind.com/post/Thousand-Eyes-Cisco-PERM-processing-QyVJK1C1

28 terrorist worshipping idiots just got themselves fired and I've never been prouder to work at Google.
Depends on manager and VP of the org. If they say they will file , it’s just that Cisco has lot of lay offs and every layoffs introduced 6-8 months delay ( they can’t file PERM at same time they are firing ppl) Mine was delayed twice , took 2 years from start to end for getting the 140
My H1B has two more years , thats why i wanted to file it as early as possible. Can i ask them to give a confirmation regarding PERM filing while accepting the offer ? is it a good approach
