Cisco seems to have the worst hiring process in my experience. -> They provided good feedback from the interviews and said they had to close the req internally and will have a new req open soon which never happened for next 6 months -> They had a new req opened later and phone interviewed. When asked for feedback they said the req was put on hold. What could be the reason for putting the req on hold suddenly? Just wasted my time. Have others experienced similar responses from Cisco?
Yes, they came to hire on-campus, interviewed, told I was selected for the next round, bam, after 3 months, reject. In those 3 months, I reached out to the recruiter >7 times and through various sources.
This is to be expected when you interview with lower tier companies such as Cisco.
This is normal in Cisco. I have not seen the behavior you experienced atleast with external candidates. But, internal, yes, have seen it. They basically evaluate if they like the candidate, they try to open a req and go after the execs to approve budget If they already have someone in their mind, they do the same. There are chances of req getting rejected after interviewing. In your case, theres a chance that you may have interviewed by the end fo quarter. Budget usually expires by that time, so theres some kind of urgency the managers have in order to use up the budget
I faced similar worst interview experience at ciaco by director of hardware engineer ing
Hiring is unfairly fair to be honest. Top companies too treat candidates like trash and have their own means of rejecting candidates when interviews go well. They lowball/down level candidates from low tier companies and play supply demand games. At times they ask unreasonably difficult and absurd question to weed out candidates for 1 year. Cisco does not such stupid policy. You can always apply for new role if you fail interview.
