CloudKitchens - thoughts?

Travis Kalanick’s new company. Recruiter reached out and I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts/experience are? Please explain in the comments if you can (other than simply your thoughts on Travis himself). Thanks in advance! *Update - they’re having me sign an NDA before talking to the recruiter. Piques my interest that much more.

I mean I already see it happening.

What do you mean?

Google io_man Nov 4, 2019

Restaurants with tiny seating and a huge kitchen.

Square cashme Nov 4, 2019

I heard it’s very operation heavy not much a tech company. Personally I don’t see it have huge success before delivery logistics being solved.

Untrue - I'm loyal to certain cloud kitchens because they make good food.

Yes, it's a big thing in India already. https://rebelfoods.co/

India is 10 years ahead in tech.

I wonder if TK can make this as big in the United States

Workday khgyijv Nov 4, 2019

Cloud kitchens sounds like a we work business model .

Uber byeUber Nov 5, 2019

No. WeWork doesn’t own any property. CloudKitchen actually does and they rent it out to various restaurants.

Doesn’t cloud kitchen own cheap real estate in undesirable parts of the city . How valuable is that real estate portfolio ?

I’m currently interviewing and have the same questions/curiosity. I just left a start up so I’m always skeptical during these interviews. The recruiter was unable to answer any of my questions or really give me information on the role since we had an NDA signed, but wanted me to explain why i’d want to work there when they reached out.

If thats the treatment you get from a recruiter who's after YOU, run don't walk away.

Twilio p@$$w0rd. OP Nov 4, 2019

Yeah I don’t love the sound of that...

Bank of America nyc_eng Nov 4, 2019

Sad attempt to brand and to collect margin from exploiting underqualified work. Similar to Uber/Lyft, with more operational complexity. Potentially quite lucrative for a few years, until customers wise up. Or recession hits.

Bunch of people commenting here who don't know shit about the business. Pretty much nothing listed here is true. Can't comment more due to NDA but suggest asking the recruiter to talk to a manager.

It sounds like you’re having a good experience there or know people who are?Can you share anything more? I worked for a start up doing the same thing as a development manager so I understand the business of flipping properties and ground up construction pretty well. I think anyone would have questions when given limited information about a job.

Hoping for just a little bit more here as well.

Good luck! Hopefully you get more than I did.

WeWork WvjJ28 Nov 7, 2019

How much did you get?

Uber der_schlos Nov 5, 2019

Friend got an offer there as an EM 2. TC is ridiculous. 10m over 4 years

Square cashme Nov 5, 2019

Interesting. They have different levels of EM already? I had the impression that their engineering was 10 ppl 😂 but it’s also a little while back
