Spent 90 minutes solving leetcode easy question of house paints.. Can’t keep up with these coding questions but need to make more money for kids college and house. What’s the way out? How do you guys manage? YOE - 11 TC - 180
That ones kinda hard, not an easy IMO
The right way is all engineers should come together and say no to such interviews and suggest interview techniques each individual feels comfortable with such that the actual job function is tested. But if engineers were that smart, they wouldn't be working under managers dumber than them.
I wish that happens soon otherwise I won’t be able to change job ever. A young kid interviewed me, I write C++ code usually. Couple of typos were there so compile time errors but managed to run in the end, also optimal solution. Feedback said compilation error was interpreted as lack of fluency by the interviewer :P
Too bad. May be the kid did not want to work with you. You should look for a company/team that values you
Look at leetcode discuss and understand solution after 5 min of thinking , then try similar different problems and come back to this one after a week or so . Looking at answers is the most effective/best way to learn imo, also the quickest
I agree. First time just learn from the answers and understand patterns of how this question type is solved, then move on
It takes time. Keep trying. Learn patterns try again.
Go back to first principles if needed, eg EPI / CTCI books, so you get a solid foundation. Might be easier than jumping straight in to LC.
Stick with it. Not all easy tagged problems are easy.
Sorry FANG interview process require to master leetcode monkey skills
Go into management
PPP - Practice, Perseverance and Patience... The only way to crack interviews
I have flunked so many interviews, can’t see any offers in the near horizon :(
Don't look at it as flunking, look at it as you got valuable practice and an opportunity to see where you need to develop. LC style questions just take practice, keep at it and you'll get there.
