L5 SWE at Google. 3.5 YOE, just got promoted. TC 305.

Just wondering how much above (if at all) my current TC/sign-on I can expect if I interviewed at Uber, Facebook, Coinbase, Square, etc.

Your TC is 270 not 305. Facebook can pay ~180 base, ~500 RSU.

Why wouldn’t I include the bonus?

Yea, this whole “don’t count to bonus” or “don’t count the signing” seems odd to me. I’d understand amortizing the cost across years, but ignoring it completely doesn’t make sense

If you got from L3 to L5 in 3.5 years, Google is definitely working for you. Stay and your comp will go up as you are L6+ potential.

This! Why leave G. Google appears to be an excellent fit for you. Stick around and move to L6+.

Did you come as an L4 after PhD?
FB can pay E5 around 350k.

0 change FB would consider E5 with 3.5 yrs experience. 5 is the minimum. I joined as E4 from L3 with 3 years of experience (2 at G)

L3->L5 in 3.5 years is incredible. Mind share how much time you’ve spent as 3 and 4? Are you a mobile dev?

I’m honestly not the most amazing developer. My best guess is it’s my strong product-sense and initiative both of which allow me to work on more-consistently impactful projects and gain the respect of peers.

Most companies should offer OP their L5/senior equivalent based on OP’s level at google tho, despite the low YOE.

Kouq26, you’ve been at Amazon too long. The kid has skills, the market will pay. Not every place underpays like Amazon.
