Qualtrics folks, what is the current situation with refreshers, do you get refreshers every review period (once a year?) irrespective of performance of your initial offer grant, or is that grant being tracked as part of your total current compensation (like they do at Amazon)?

And when you get the dollar amount for RSU’s, is it converted to the number of stocks on your start date or at each vest date over the first 3 years?

I’ve read on Blind that the post-acquisition offers are less generous, so I’m trying to get a sense of what to expect and to gauge the long term comp outlook.

The first time refreshers will be given post acquisition will be in Apr 2020. So noone knows what they are. People who got promoted got meager refreshers so far (I heard $1k/year for an L4). It's SAP.

Very few senior people means eng quality is pretty subpar. Consider Qualtrics only if you have no other options.

@newQ, I think their offers are very close to Amazon’s industry hire offers (top of the band), but for those who started at Amazon at L6+ two-three years ago, TC is hard to beat. It seems that levels also map one to one, L8 being a director and working downwards from there. Similar companies at least offer Senior Director/VP titles to Amazon’s L7 candidates, which seems was a case pre-acquisition at Qualtrics, based on some of the people profiles I see on LinkedIn :-)
Taking a 10-15% pay cut is kind of “new normal” for lateral moves, thus I wonder if there is a career growth opportunity that would outpace what I can do at Amazon.

It is not fair comparison on L6 2 years ago and Q current offers. Stocks appreciated a lot. If you compare Q L6 offers 2 years ago and Amazon L6, it will be different too. If you are L6 industry hire who is still collecting their hire RSUs then, it is not a good move. However, if you are out of initial grants and TC dropped, then Q offer will be better. Actually any new company will be better. :) In terms of career growth, getting to L7 is not easy at Amazon. You are looking for 4-5 years with political shit.

@newQ, According to Blind, TC is never fair :-) I’m not an SDE, so the numbers you listed are much lower assuming that PM don’t make that much, which we do elsewhere :-)

Move to wherever they pay that much.

@newQ, do you know if the dollar value of the initial grant gets converted to a number of stocks on the grant date for three year as at most of other companies? And what were the recent bonus numbers, I’ve heard there is a target which is based on the individual and company performance, so I wonder how realistic getting that target is?

From what I know it is still unclear on refreshers. $ amount for equity is converted to stock on vesting start date (may not be the same as your start date) and then vests over the 3 years with yearly cliffs. They do take into account your current TC. TC review is yearly, but perf review twice a year. I think only 3 companies give generous refreshers: fb, g and apple. Maybe snapchat also.
As for pre and post acq offers, no idea. As long as I get the TC I want it is fine by me.

Thank you! Hopefully there is a plan for year 4 and beyond that will not require a new job search.

I also thought like you about year 4, but came to conclusion that I should be prepared to jump anytime at any company. Also Q is not FB or G, so your refreshers if there are any, will still be lower than hire grant.

TC review also happens twice a year . From what I have heard, they usually provide you enough new grants on year 4 that your TC doesn’t drop

Yeah, I heard a lot. But true reference how it works is written in wiki. Refreshers are not available to everyone. There level and perf constraints.
