Unlimited means no payout for unused pto when you leave. It’s a misnomer and a catch 22
Old school companies pay out any unused EVERY year.
Any of those companies left? Thinking sears era
Expedia
Expedia is running a bit of a scam with their so-called unlimited vacation. They get the benefit of not paying out unused vacation when employees leave. But most managers hold employees to the internal guidelines: - 3 weeks for first three years of employment - 4 weeks after three years
I don't know how getting paid out is related to unlimited pto. The general consensus is that the 3-4 weeks is the recommended limit. I have not seen a single case where this has been enforced and I have been here long. The people who want to take leaves just take them. Their career is probably not going anywhere but they don't care
