Compass offers very high TC. I just got a senior swe offer, TC 320k, split cash/stock 45%/55%. This is NYC. I since got a strong aws offer in seattle that I plan to use for negotiation to even higher.

@Chase I cannot agree more. The only reason I’m considering this is because the aws offer is because they upleveled me to senior. The interview process went really well for me, 3 coding 1 sys des. Not easy, but I think I was well prepared for those questions.

I’m aware that they’re in different levels. I’d say amazon correctly leveled me.

Good as long as you’re informed and happy with it.
      Congrats!

Had a Senior SWE offer from them in their NYC office. Offer TC was 260K after amortizing everything over 4 years (initial equity grant + yearly bonus in the form of RSUs). Cash comp is less than your TC at Bloomberg, though, so make a decision about how much you value paper money, and whether you think they will IPO.

260K is a decent offer though. Did you join? I heard they are tight on the rsu side

I wouldn't join unless real comp stayed the same and/or paper RSU was 2x what a public company gave. Without a market, it's impossible to judge the true value. This is doubly true for cyclical business like real estate.

@BB: The only real portion of their comp is salary since bonus is in RSUs, and based on my experience negotiating with them, it would be difficult to get 210K salary unless you were at Staff/Senior Staff level. It also doesn't seem like they would be able to 2x a public company's equity grant (unless you got a super lowball G offer or something given your YOE, in which case staying at BB probably makes more sense) so hopefully that helps.

@Uber: Agree it's decent, though I ended up signing elsewhere. They are actually more liberal with RSUs - they pushed me to go heavier on RSUs during negotiation, and their finder's fee for referrals is doubled if you take RSUs instead of cash.

With your exp and TC, you might as well try to get a job at FAANG. BBerg to Compass isn’t really much of an upgrade. And BBerg is known to pay well, not sure if you could say the same about Compass.
