Say someone has base 120k in california and seattle both. As an H1B visa holder, how much is the expected in-hand salary for both the places?

Depends on your living style. What sort of stupid question is this.

what kind of stupid response is that. The question is is obviously before cost of living.. just on the basis of tax.

It's kind of stupid considering, all you gotta do is deduce your 401k and apply standard taxes --- like state, federal, social security and all. It would be much quicker than dealing with all us Blinders here, who seek more of an entertainment than helping you out.

Is google down for you?

You aren’t providing enough information to answer the question. Why not use one of the many payroll calculators and get an accurate estimate?

There are bunch of tax calculators online, check those. Roughly for Seattle, Fed tax would be the same, no state tax.

If you want to know just on the basis of tax then Google for the tax rate and do some math. Why do you want to be spoon-fed?
