Compensation for L65 Principal SRE at Microsoft
I am evaluating several offers and expecting an offer for a Principal SRE Lead for Microsoft in Reston VA doing work in the cleared space. I am currently at AWS with a 275k TC. Problem is I am on a team that I don't want to be on anymore for a couple of reasons (don't like the manager, don't like the technology). Not including a clearance bonus, is 300k TC a reasonable ask for this role at Microsoft?

How many years of exp btw?
18 yoe. Keep in mind, the tech market grew up very different in the DC area than in the Bay Area and Seattle. I came into crazy total comps tech companies a little late.
I'm going to be interviewing for a position out there as well. What did your offer end up being?
OP any update on TC/offer? I am Amazon L6 applying for cleared space SRE as well... having a hard time setting expectations because I think a L6 SysDE at Amazon has a much higher coding bar than SRE at MSFT... making me wonder if I should be pushing for 65 rather than 63/64...
What did you end up taking?
I would expect around 375 TC
