Hello folks, one thing I've wondered is if you really need competing offers or can you just tell a recruiter you have them and negotiate with that bluff? Any way they can check?
Yes, recruiters ask their recruiter friends at other companies all of the time. I’ve heard that it’s mostly in situations when the offer is out of the typical range, so you might get away with it if you know how their offers are structured. Reality is that it’s a big risk and you’re better actually going and getting those other offers instead of just bluffing about it.
Not easy getting many offers lined up at the same time as a PM since most companies try to fit your experience to a specific opening that has a good fit.
That's why you need strong data protection laws
The tech would is small
You cannot bluff as they will ask for the offer letter to confirm. You can say something like “I am expecting an offer from a (rival) company and they will definitely propose or match my TC expectations”. This should at-least get you to a TC closer to your expectation provided all your interview feedback were a strong hire.
Don't do it. It is easy to catch
The recruiting world is even smaller than the tech one, there's not really any formal medium of communication, but they are not shy about asking other recruiters, everyone is just a single email or LinkedIn message away.
Absolutely..
A lot of people bluff about that. It is very difficult to get multiple top offers at the same time. However ‘blind’ is a place of top 0.1% and it’s possible 😀

If they call your bluff out, you end up with egg on your face. Don’t risk it?
How would they call it? Is there any way of they reaching out to the alleged company?
You could just continue bluffing saying it's a verbal offer. Doesn't work on google I think but maybe other companies
