Competing with a coworker for promotion..

I am not impacted my friend is...

My friend has been with say apple for 9 years now and she and her boss are in good terms.. a new team member joins and she doesn’t know much so my friend trains her and as well as others as a part of her job..

My friends boss relies heavily on my her for lot of decisions and her 9 year experience is crucial for lot of key decisions..

The problem is my friends boss announced that he will retire in may in front of my friend and new worker... the problem is new coworker is trying to say things like I don’t know who is capable of taking over this job anymore. And trying to butt her nose in my friends work to see if she is not doing anything that gives her the edge..

She keeps asking my friend are you applying for this role or I don’t know how will all other stuff b handled when the boss retires...

Can anyone advice here what can my friend do to handle such situation without jeopardizing her chances?

If you need to say the word my friend so many times it's clearly not your friend but yourself.

Not sure if you read the post correctly...

I work at uber and if I have been or was at uber for 9 years that makes me
Like no 1 employee even beating Travis in tenure and after that stint and 9 years I would not be on blind worrying about my promotion since I would have $$$

Tell your friend to just shrug her shoulders and say that their director will find someone who needs a rotation within the company and appoint as their manager, no need to worry.

Dont you think it would have been easier to write and read if you referred to both the people in your post as A and B ?

  • Why does the new team member have any more say than your "friend"?

Who cares what your "friend" says to their new team member?
