Let’s compile all the lies that recruiters tell so that new job seekers don’t fall for it and can make better decisions. I will start first, my recruiter told me in 2017 that Google cloud will be #1 by 2019-20, lol.
"This offer has a deadline of 5 days and the numbers are non-negotiable."
You will be promoted in next review cycle
“You can join at L-1 and then quickly make it to L in six months or so”
We have given you our top of the line offer
After your interview if the recruiters say that this position is on hold it actually means that your performance is average so we r interviewing other candidates and if none meets our bar we d consider giving a low ball offer to you in future
“You will be hearing from us about next steps.”
Our company has a flat structure
“Open door policy” lol
I have heard Amazon ppl non-sarcastically say this with at least 6-7 levels between them and Bezos. In the context of why promotions at Amazon mean more and are more cherishable/valuable because it has a flat structure.
“You will be able to reapply after 6 months”
Is this really a lie?
Then they reached me out again in one month, and got an offer
“We don’t think you are a match.”
Why is that a lie
Yea I think they were serious
