What do people think about Confluent recent valuation jump from 500M to 2.5B after Series D?
Have they published revenue figures?
This ^^ says 100M in annual bookings reported by forbes
Weird. Cloudera has a wider portfolio (which also includes Kafka) yet is tanking.
It's easy to have open source software in your "portfolio". It's another thing to be able to really support it. All the committers are at Confluent.
Can it go higher? Given similar companies top at around less than 5B, I am not sure what the company can do. Remote work sounds attractive though. Also I like the fact that the founders are from LinkedIn where WLB is good and there are company shutdowns. Ex Amazonian founded companies will be different.
I think you should read about Elastic and Mongo. Both valuations are close to $8B
Our numbers are even better than those two companies and if sales stay on their current trajectory I would not be surprised to see a 10B valuation. Why so high vs other recent Enterprise software companies? Kafka is in the revenue stream at 70% of Fortune 100 companies and not just tech companies. And we basically have a monopoly on the streaming market for all intents and purposes. At our current rate of hiring and building software we have the potential to become the Oracle of streaming data.
Amazon will just build a competing product and confluent is gone. Especially because so much of their revenue is on prem.
Hmm they tried same for elastic did they succeed?
Well, I think confluent will still survive and become maybe a 5b company like elastic... not a 20b+ company like they claim to
They had Series E yesterday and it went up to $4.5B. Good for all confluenters!
