Hello! I'm contemplating changing jobs from AMZN to GOOG. I will need an H1B transfer. I'm hearing the RFE rate for this transfer has gone up drastically. How risky is this transfer? Are there any sites that give out any stats on RFE and rejection rates? Also, what happens when your H1B transfer is denied but you have already started working for the new company based on H1B receipt?
Wow. That's fantastic. Thank you so much @Jamesson. @UMbR31 - Thank you! Question for you - Are you referring to having multiple H1B applications? Or are you talking about having 3 transfers at any give point in time?
I think for GOOG it should be fine unless you are joining a different role
Dont ! Come back to India
Transfer back to your country.
@BigNail. Thank you for the obvious suggestion. I'm very well aware of that option. If there are no other viable options that is exactly what we'll do. It's just a tad bit hard to up and leave a country that you have lived in for 17 years, not to mention the time it takes to figure out your housing, kids, and pets situations. Doable? Heck yea. Just not my first choice.
Yeah. Just do it
The RFE rate in general has gone up for bigger companies like amazon and google. This is primarily because of the pay structure which has lower base and higher bonus etc. The job titles also play a part as it’s seen more as a lateral move or a lower designation but very seldom to a higher title. There are sites like h1b info which can help you drill down by company and an average of approvals vs rejections. If ur h1b transfer is denied it’s time to pack your bags:) as someone mentioned , apply in premium and wait till it’s approved ie. ~15 days, before giving the notice period.
Thank you. Appreciate the comment and suggestion
I moved on a reciept recently. No such thing happened. Most of the RFEs, if they indeed happen, ask for relevant salary information and experience level etc. My buddy had that question while moving to a startup. But it all got resolved as he had almost 9 years of experience. So, you should be fine. These companies know what they are doing. It’s highly unlikely a transfer results in a rejected application
Thank you
I would disagree with the last part of your statement. The bigger companies know what they are doing and it’s highly unlikely a transfer results in a rejected application. There is more scrutiny under the new administration and it’s not an easy pass through as before. I have 2 of my ex coworkers who moved to amazon on receipt and got RFEs and are still trying to get it approved. I moved to a Startup a month back and got it cleared in 5 days.
Wait for transfer to get approved . RFe r random not tied to specific company
Thank you.

Foreigners who worked on your accent to sound more American, did you notice a career benefit?
Don’t ever ever join on receipt. Get it done in prem processing so to be sure before disclosing anything in your current job.
Thank you Jamesson. Wouldn't the current employer (AMZN) come to know (that in planning on quitting) if we wait for approval? Or is that not the case?
No, Amazon won’t know anything even you got an approval and didn’t join google.
