An Indian man has been pursuing me for marriage off and on for a couple of years now. On multiple occasions, I've told him to go away and find another as I am uncertain about his motives, but he always returns insisting that he wants only me. How can I tell if he's sincere? I have concerns because I'm African American, several years older than he is, and I've heard that it's rare for Indians to cross cultural boundaries for marriage...and that they typically marry White/European women if they do.
Don't judge someone by the background they were raised in. Judge him for who he is as a person. You should know this based on the stereotypes and assumptions made against African Americans.
“I’ve heard that..” 🙄 F what 10 people say and the stereotypes. You should go out and figure it out for yourself if you think he is genuine or not.
I think you may be in for a rough time. I’m sorry to say but Indians are really obsessed with skin color and the fairer you are, the better you’re perceived to be. There’s that and also the cultural mismatch. It’s not fair to generalize, but many Indian men (and their families) have an unconscious bias towards women. Just be aware of this and ensure that you’re not stepping into a racist and possibly sexist environment if you decide to go ahead. Good luck!
Lol why are you asking lonely nerds on a tech form for marriage advice? What does your heart say? Do you like having him around? Does he add to your life, while you add to his? What do you think of him as a person? On other hand, if you have to ask whether you should marry - the answer is No.
Lady beware.. Common Indian on h1b tactic - marrying for a green card.

Offtopic but what does 'New' even mean? What company does she belong to.
It's just a company blind doesn't recognise yet or have enough members of
Hmm so basically anybody with a custom domain can register on Blind and start creating threads. Have to start discounting posts from all 'New' going forward.
Tell his family you are from Goa
He's after your passport not you!
Indians are both exceptionally family oriented and exceptionally racist. You're going to have to put up with constant shit from your in-laws, and he'll always try to stay neutral.
Agree on the exceptionally racist part 👍
Couldn't agree more on both, racist and putting up with constant shit
