Contract vs Permanent at Nike

I'm starting at Nike as a Transition Manager in IT in a few weeks for a year long contract. There is an 80% chance it will convert to a permanent role. Is anyone aware of what changes about your role once embedded in the company? Beyond performance reviews, benefits, and bonuses, how does the work load change? What else changes? Also, how stable is Nike right now? I'm feeling traumatized having been at Intel for the past eleventy billion layoffs. I survived it, but now those who remain are cleaning up the mess.
