What is the logic behind 1 year cool offs? It is a very long period. It just might be your unlucky day, and your next try will be in a year??!

      What is the law exactly?

Can you point to a law that restricts it? I have never heard about it. If it was a law, then no company will put itself into a potential legal issue by reducing it to 6 months.

There is no law, but there is no point to waste resources on someone is likely to fail interview again.

What? There is no law mandating a cool off period of any length. PureWin is speaking straight from his ass.

Well, likely to fail has a degree. If could solve a problem, but with a bug or was a little slow, you can suggest him/her to get better. And it doesn’t require 1 year. Also, 1 year is very harsh.

Some companies it depends if it’s a phone screen fail vs onsite fail — the period varies

Interesting point - can you elaborate how the stage where you fail affect the cool off period?

I failed my first google phone screen. The recruiter contacted me again in exactly 3 months.
