Counting calories with catered meals

Just getting introduced to fitness and watching my weight after years of pretty regular exercise because gotten injured recently and gained weight ๐Ÿ˜ช

Friends and research have taught me about basal metabolic rate, counting macros/calories/etc, etc but food is catered here (thanks Okta ๐Ÿ’›) so super convenient but hard to track those metrics for dieting - any tips on how to work around this and get a better track of caloric intake and other data?

I recommend bringing your own while you're just learning. You never know what extra things they're adding and in what quantities. Serving sizes vary wildly based on who served you. If you plan your own you can measure and weigh and be a lot closer to reality.

Once that routine is set, you'll have a better chance of success with eyeballing portions and recognizing hidden calories in sauces and flavorings added.

Ask for the nutrition information. They should have it - or at least a general idea

It is basically impossible unless you take extreme measures like eating very small quantities, double your estimate or stick with the very basic stuff like chicken breast or veggies
