I read that I need to submit pics of my home to HR before I can do so. Is this true? How is WFH viewed for someone that lives faaaaarrrr away from SF? Also is what I read on glassdoor correct about RSU's being slashed by 50%?
The first one is odd. Why does HR care about what your home looks like? Do they have specific architectural style or decor preferences?
In Australia it is a matter of assessing workplace hazards, but they don’t require HR to actually see a picture
I would say wfh policy really depends on your manager. Some dont care, some wont even want you to WFH. Personally, my manager doesnt give a shit and encourages us to use any time we need as wfh if needed. The RSU part im unsure of what the policy is for new hires
I think they don't want pics of your whole home, just your WFH space. Tip, be sure to have a dedicated space, e.g your own room. If it's a common area, they may consider distractions a negative for productivity. I also for example have a door I can lock, so my child can not go in, so I'd photo that or mention. You may want to svceenprint a zoom video also showing what others will see of you in your office.
That’s kind of ironic considering how distracting open office environments and “next-gen” spaces with no assigned desks can be. I’m just as, if not more, productive at my kitchen table at home or outside on my patio when I do work from home.
That is truly ridiculous. Why not get bonus points w/ mgmt by locking your kid in the closet so he can't distract you.
😂😂😂 that is some dumb sh*t
that's weird
Yeah, if an employer asked for that, I'd take it as simply "no working from home" and it I was new, I might well be calling some of my other offers. Super invasive
YMMv, but Cruise in general is not supportive of WFH. Obviously a lot of it depends on the manager, but as a whole, Cruise is very un-WFH friendly (as evidenced by needing to post a photo of your work station at home). Keep that in mind.
Something always worth asking about before accepting an offer, I guess.
I was told my manager is fine with wfh 1 day a week after first 3 months.
Never heard of the requirements to post a picture of your desk... And I work from home one day a week. But yeah it depends on your team, and as a general thing, cruise doesn't support WFH that much. Probably the most WFH unfriendly company I have been at. Take that into account if it's a requirement for you
Yup, 100% agree.
Also we no longer require photos of your house. That was a ridiculous policy and only lasted for about a month after someone introduced it.

No access since I'd rather not use my work email.
