They just received a 1B dollar investment round. I don't think it's ready for immediate acquisition.

3YOE is definitely not Senior SWE. Base is solid. Push RSU to 180k, bonus to 45 and sign on to 10k

Congrats

Did u ask the recruiter range of software engineer position?

Ticketmaster tktdude OP May 12, 2019

They said senior for them is 4YOE and that the offer presented to me is the absolute top of band for Software engineer.

Cruise Automation hifrien May 12, 2019

They are obligated to tell you the range of Software Engineer base salary - at least you will know how top of band it is. Afaik, there is no 4 yoe condition in the company for eligibility to senior position - most probably some interviews might not have gone as well that might have resulted in downgrading to non senior role.

Are they legally obligated to share comp ranges based on level to candidates? What about for employees at that level? Also, my understanding is that senior SWE at Cruise is a very wide level. I definitely know folks with PhD plus 2 YoE at that level.

Yes they are obligated to share base ranges. Senior is a very wide level. What do you mean by “what about for employees at that level”?

Let me clarify the question: according to California law, what information about compensation are they obligated to share to 1. employees 2. candidates? Only base pay ranges? Or also bonus and stock comp ranges? When I got their offer, they refuse to share a comp range for the senior SWE band.

Maybe they want you cruise past the offer?

Ticketmaster tktdude OP May 12, 2019

I am waiting on an offer from Google. They were trying to get me to close the deal before I can get an offer from Google. They changed deadlines on me multiple times, changes teams, changed positions. It feels red flaggy.

Cruise Automation sl1msh4dy May 12, 2019

Wow that is red flaggy. Definitely dont accept or reject before your google offer comes in. Only advice i can tell you is that that offer does seem top of the band for software eng and is pretty strong for non senior

Thank you for the information
