I just got contacted by a recruter at Amazon. How do you like working there? Whats the culture?
Completely depends on team. I have an awesome manager, good WLB, and love what I’m doing, but, as with any company, depends on team. Amazon is too big of a company to try and generalize
Which team?
I love it. I have a great manger and team to work with. However it does truly depend on the team you work with, you and what you make of it. Amazon is a great company that has a lot of opportunity and great benefits.
Like others said, depend on the team. Go to interview prepared and ask good questions to assess the team.
I hated it. Horrific management from academia.
It was part of CoreML. I figured they'd at least get some management training, but no.
Love it! Moved recently from microsoft and have a stellar team, great team mates, excellent manager who values me, good work-life balance and exciting work. But yes, it completely depends on team and manager. Have heard there are a lot of teams here with the opposite experience. So make sure you know what you are getting into.
What team/org are you on?
Not that many good teams in Amazon. Amazon is fucking shithole and eat employees for lunch
I enjoy coming to work. 🤸
Have to say I love it here. I've got a great mentor and growing team with exciting projects and the freedom to pursue innovative solutions. I've been with Amazon for two years and grew more as an engineer than I did in the previous 10. Yeah, it's a bit of a crap shoot, but the odds are better than the naysayers make you think. Certainly better than at lower level companies and it's not tough to move if you find yourself in a bad group.
Team change is nearly impossible in first 6 ~12 months. Getting stuck in a bad team (the vast majority ) is enough to make you desperately miserable in weeks.
Search is a wonderful thing
I certainly know what is the culture at Uber now.. not surprised though.
Working at amazon has made me a monster 🙈
