How's the culture at both Amplitude and Segment? Typical hours worked, quality of mgmt, etc. Thanks!
Pretty good culture at Segment. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns though. There are some prickly folks, like anywhere. Engineering leadership is kind of young too and it can show, at times. I know folks who hate the performance review and promotion process (very nebulous) but leadership is looking to change / improve it Overall, though, I’d recommend. Work life balance is pretty good. Working on meaningful problems. Not a real heavy project management process. TC is kind of weak, especially when it comes to equity, bonus, and 401k match. Base is fine. Only people who think TC is “100% awesome” are likely working at Segment for their first gig.
Amplitude’s culture is meh. They say they care about their employees but in reality they don’t. Typical start up pains. Some teams have people who are toxic and you can sense the immaturity of the leadership.

Segment culture is hella awesomeeee. People here go to every limit possible to see each other succeed. Right from orientation to product feedback everything here is very open and culture is the best I have seen so far. The only issue that picky folks have is to do with no 401k matching part. If you need specific info pm me. Added perk is you can do family planning by freezing eggs which is new at segment.
