How likely is it for a new company to find my title at previous company? I am applying for SDM at a small company and I told them I am SDM in my current company when I am an SDE. Otherwise they were not interested in me. P.S. Current company is not Amazon. Account is not updated.
If itâs an outsourced background check company (eg HireRight) you can tell them not to contact your current employer and instead provide other proof of employment.
I see my previous titles being revealed in the bg verification report.
So youâre applying for a manager role with no management experience? Your poor reports đ
Youâre a liar and if you are applying to Microsoft you will get caught. Firsthand experience
That I am. Although I do manage Jr. SDEs, assign them tasks and shit. It's just that they are not my direct reports in the system. So tell me more about your first hand experience..
How about what level you are? Does that show up?
I just passed a hire right background check and did not let them contact any previous employers. You'll be fine as long as criminal records check out and if you tell hire right about any degrees they check out. It'll come back as "meets company standards".
IIRC they just check what was self-reported in your background check form. If they bring it up just tell them it was an accurate representation of your responsibilities. But yeah do not lie on that form - put your actual titles there.
Any update?
Ballsy.
